In Search of Long-term Emerald Isle Rentals

1 Comment | Leave A Comment

I often receive phone calls from renters seeking a long-term Emerald Isle beach front home or condo. I’ve found most of these inquiries come from younger couples especially military couples stationed at Camp LeJeune who are looking for a long-term rental. A few of things occur during these calls.

Taking Advantage of Your iPhone When Visiting Emerald Isle

Comments Off on Taking Advantage of Your iPhone When Visiting Emerald Isle

It seems a day doesn’t go by that another really cool iPhone APP is introduced. I really enjoy my iPhone and try to take full advantage of all its available applications, features and benefits. For everyone who visits or lives on the Crystal Coast and especially in the town of Emerald Isle, I suggest you put to good use your iPhone the minute you arrive and select the “Nearby” application. With Nearby, you can locate all kinds of great information uploaded by local Crystal Coast residents.

New Suite Hotel Coming to Emerald Isle

According to local media sources, only one final permit is required from the Emerald Isle Board of Commissioners for a new Emerald Suites hotel to be built. Planned for the corner of N.C. 58, Islander Drive and Crew Drive (see map below), the hotel project is being developed by a partnership of the two long-time Emerald Isle families, Larry and Daisy Spell and Paxon Holz. Ms. Holz is the daughter of W.B. McLean. Developer Larry Spell’s uncle, George Spell, and W. B. McLean were the original developers of Emerald Isle.

I recently asked my five year old grandson to write his first blog. Below is what he typed on the computer and added to my Facebook page:

Nana and me like to play crosswords. Me and Papa like to play trains. I also like to go to the Parade of Homes in Raleigh with Nana and Papa and Mommy and Daddy, and look in the homes.

We Don’t Own the Flip Flops Shop in Emerald Isle

I’m amazed at the amount of emails and comments I receive here at the Crystal Coast Blog from people who think I own the Flip Flops store in Emerald Isle. Then again, it’s really easy to understand. People “Google” the search term “Flip Flops in Emerald Isle” and my Crystal Coast Blog appears on page one (1) of the search results. Naturally, when people read my wife’s favorable comments posted here at our blog about Flip Flops, they assume that my wife Pam and I are the owners. Here’s the thing, we do not own the shop.

Lately I have been thinking about the direction of topics and information provided in this blog. One key element I teach every blogger is you must know who your audience is and then provide “high-value” content to your audience in your blog. That way, loyal readers will return time and again to read your fresh content.

The Return Trip to Emerald Isle

By now it was approaching early afternoon and the wind had picked up. Obviously, a return by way of the Atlantic was out of the question. I asked my trusty navigator, Pam my wife, to plot a course for us to return via Taylor’s Creek on the Beaufort waterfront for our return trip back to Emerald Isle. Taylor’s Creek is a scenic trip and I highly recommend that trek. Just remember, all along the waterfront is a “no wake zone”, so take that into account when calculating your time. Beaufort is a pretty little town filled with neat shops, good restaurants and interesting homes. If you have time, check it out if you’re near Morehead City.
